Create delicious baked goods using rescued ingredients.

Across Felix, fresh fruit and vegetables make up over half of the food we redistribute. At Felix Bakes, we are looking for volunteers keen to help us transform a portion of this fresh produce into delicious baked goods such as banana breads, courgette muffins, apple cookies, carrot cakes and more.

Similarly to our other food production sites, Felix Bakes is especially valuable for using the large excesses of seasonal produce that we may receive as well as utilising over-ripe fruit and vegetables that may otherwise spoil before reaching community groups.

  • Washing fresh produce ready for production
  • Peeling, chopping and slicing fruits & vegetables
  • Weighing out ingredients
  • Mixing doughs and batters by hand or using commercial kitchen equipment – e.g. Thermomix
  • Portioning prepared batters and doughs into tins
  • Wrapping and fixing product labels to packaging
  • Filling crates with exciting baked products ready for delivery
  • Cleaning down kitchen surfaces between tasks and thoroughly at the end of your shift ready for the next set of volunteers

Requirements for the role

  • Complete the Food Safety Training on Felix’s Volunteer Portal
  • Adhere to the strict safety guidelines of a food production site. Wear the relevant PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided by Felix – including aprons, boots, gloves, hairnets and beard nets where applicable
