Volunteer Driver

Collect surplus food from suppliers and deliver it to community groups.

Volunteer Drivers are at the core of our operations. You will play a vital role in rescuing and redistributing good food, while also acting as the friendly face of Felix out on the road. By getting food to the right places quickly and safely, you help ensure it can be shared and enjoyed rather than going to waste. 

It’s a practical, hands-on role and you’ll see and feel the impact of your contribution right away. Without drivers, the food we collect couldn’t reach the people who rely on it every day.

Role and responsibilities

  • Driving Felix vans to collect surplus food from suppliers and deliver it to community groups we support
  • Quality-checking deliveries and collections
  • Loading and unloading crates of food safely and carefully
  • Carrying out basic vehicle checks and completing simple paperwork
  • Liaising with community groups and passing feedback onto the local community coordinator
  • Representing Felix as a positive, friendly and approachable ambassador 

I love volunteering for Felix. It’s practical, physical, and purposeful. You work with great people redistributing what otherwise would be wasted food and have fun in the process. Requirements for the role

  • Hold a full, valid driving licence with no more than 6 points 
  • Aged 21 or over, with at least one year of driving experience
  • Pass the Felix Driving Assessment at your nearest depot
  • Complete at least one warehouse shift and two co-driver shifts at the same depot
  • Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting and loading crates
  • Follow manual handling and food safety guidelines when handling produce 
  • Reliable, friendly, and happy working independently and as part of a team
  • Have good timekeeping and organisational skills
