Volunteer Co-Driver

Support a Felix Driver on delivery routes and help rescue and distribute surplus food.

Volunteer Co-Drivers make a real difference by helping food get to the right places safely and efficiently. You’ll be travelling alongside a Felix Driver, assisting with loading and unloading, navigating routes, and liaising with community groups.

This role is a great way to build confidence and learn how our delivery operations work. You’ll gain practical experience, get familiar with our routes and systems, and develop skills that can prepare you to become a Volunteer Driver if you choose to. It’s a key supporting role out on the road where you’ll always be part of the action and see first-hand how your time supports communities.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Travelling with a Felix driver to collect and deliver surplus food
  • Loading and unloading crates of food safely and carefully
  • Quality-checking deliveries and collections
  • Assisting the driver with navigation, routes, and paperwork
  • Supporting the driver with basic vehicle checks and keeping the van clean and tidy
  • Liaising with community groups and passing feedback onto the local community coordinator
  • Being a friendly and positive representative of Felix when meeting partners 

Co-driving is a great way to get involved in Felix’s work. You can make a real contribution in helping the drivers to do their deliveries and I’ve met lots of great people. You also get the chance to speak to the charities we support and see the differences we are making to them.

Requirements for the role

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting and loading crates
  • Complete at least one warehouse shift at the same depot
  • Follow manual handling and food safety guidelines when handling produce. 
  • Comfortable liaising with our community groups, employees and other volunteers 
  • Friendly, reliable, and happy working as part of a team
